Day three in ICU with IMT. Ember was so sick and weak that I wasn't allowed to see her as she would have developed new bleeding if she got excited. A wonderful tech took these shots of her and emailed them to me because she knew it was kill me to not be able to see her. I'll never forget you, Jayne.

I couldn't bring myself to taking pictures of Em after her parathyroidectomy this March. She was in a pretty sad state. I just don't want to remember her that way, ever.

I know it doesn't look like it, but Ember is absolutely LOVING her drastic lion's cut (compliments of mommy and Canadian Tire!). In April, after her surgery, she looked like she had played tag with a lawn mower from where her neck had been shaved for an ultrasound and then surgery, her legs were shaved for intervenous fluids, so I figured I'd even her out. She was also really lethargic and there was nothing that seemed to perk her up. I was willing to try anything and my vet told me that she shaves her black cat. The cat is noticeably more lively afterwards so I gave it a try. She really does love it.

I felt SO bad about this picture. For the last seven years, at midnight on Feb 27, I put Ember up on the kitchen table, same birthday hat (different cake each year, though!), dress her up and take her birthday pictures. This year, though, she was on a fast and couldn't eat. I didn't want to jinx our luck so I went ahead with the midnight photo shoot, but when I put the cake back into the fridge, Em was devistated!! Bad mommy....

It's hard to tell from this shot, but Juno the malamute is 120 pounds compared to Em's 35. Contrary to popular belief, it IS possible for female mals to get along, and even enjoy, other female dogs.
